1. India on top of ICC WTC table
India currently have 240 points after five Test matches spanning over two series against West Indies and South Africa and Virat Kohli's band won both the series without surrendering match. India had beaten Windies 2-0 away and then outclassed South Africa 3-0 at home. Their next series is at home against Bangladesh and it is a chance for them to widen the gap with the also-rans. New Zealand and Sri Lanka have 60 points each while Australia and England have 56 points each while other teams have not earned a point yet.
2. India's first-ever whitewash over SA
This is the first time in their cricketing history India have managed to clean sweep a Test series against South Africa. And this is also the third SA are getting whitewashed in a three-match Test series after their readmission to Test cricket in 1991-92. Other two instances were against Australia in 2001-02 and in 2005-06.
3. One of the biggest innings defeat for SA
The innings and 202-run defeat against India Ranchi is their third biggest innings defeat in their cricketing history. It equaled their defeat against England at Cape Town way back in 1888-89. Their biggest innings defeat came against Australia on 2001-02 at Johannesburg - an innings and 360 runs. Their next biggest innings defeat too was against Australia in 1949-50 Port Elizabeth - an innings and 259 runs.
4. Rohit outscores SA
In the third Test against South Africa at Ranchi, Rohit Sharma made 212 and South Africa failed to cross that mark in their two innings making 162 and 133. It was the fifth such instance by an Indian batsman. In 1955/56, Vinood Mankad made 231 and New Zealand could muster only 202 and 219 at Chennai. In 2003-04 at Rawalpindi, Rahul Dravid made 270 against Pakistan, who two innings yielded 224 and 245. In 2004-05, Sachin Tendulkar produced a 248 at Dhaka and Bangladesh batsmen could only make 184 and 202. Virat Kohli made 243 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur in 2017-18 and the Lankans reply was 205 and 166.
