South Africa has named Dean Elgar as the captain in the 2nd Test against India as he replaces injured Temba Bavuma.
Elgar will now captain the Proteas in his final international match in Cape Town, which starts from January 3.

Temba Bavuma injured himself during fielding on the first day and subsequently went off the field. He played no part in the remainder of the match as scans revealed a hamstring strain.
Elgar will now step up and lead his nation on his swansong in international cricket, and will be hoping to replicate his performance from the Centurion Test. Elgar was adjudged as the Player of the Match as the southpaw played a brilliant knock of 185 runs with the bat.
Elgar will play his final Test match in Cape Town against India. He has played 85 Tests for the Proteas so far, scoring 5331 runs with 23 fifties and 14 centuries to his name.
Elgar is also no stranger to captaincy as he has led the South African side in 17 Tests between 2017 to 2023, winning 9 of those matches. The southpaw was the captain for the Proteas as they came back from behind to win the Test series 2-1 against India back in 2021-22.
Zubayr Hamza will replace the injured Bavuma for the final Test as they look to win the series against India and keep Rohit Sharma and co. waiting for their Test series win on South African soil.
