India and Sri Lanka will meet for the first time in Asia Cup 2023 when they clash in the fourth match of Super 4 stage at the R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 12).
India head into the match on the back of a Super 4 match against Pakistan that needed reserve day to complete at the same venue in Colombo on Monday (September 11), while Sri Lanka come into the match on the back of a victory over Bangladesh in their Super 4 opener also at the same venue.

The weather has been a concern in this tournament, especially in the Sri Lankan leg, with India vs Pakistan match being forced into the reserve day after their super 4 match, originally scheduled for Sunday (September 10), was called off.
The India-Pakistan match resumed on the reserve day after rain delayed the start and also interrupted play at the start of the run chase. So, how will the weather hold when India meet Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 12)?
With weather conditions once again likely to influence the match that has no reserve day, here is a look at the Colombo R Premadasa Stadium pitch report and weather forecast ahead of IND vs SL, Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match:
The wickets at the R Premadasa Cricket Stadium are known to be batting friendly, but provide spinners some assistance as the game progresses with the teams batting first enjoying more success compare to teams chasing.
However, the wicket used for India-Pakistan seemed to be a batters paradise as the top four of the India batting line up scored freely with the openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scoring half centuries, and numbers 3 and 4 - Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, scoring unbeaten hundreds.
Overall, the teams batting first have won 78 times in the 143 matches at the venue with the chasing team winning 55 times, while 8 matches have ended in No Result.
The average score batting first at the venue in 228. So, the captain winning the toss on Tuesday (September 12) may also look to follow the pattern of getting runs on the board and use the conditions under lights to their advantage.
But with rain playing spoilsport in the fixture between Pakistan and India, there is a chance the captain may be tempted to know what their team will be chasing with the possibility of a truncated match. So, how will the weather play in India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match on September 12?
It is expected to be no different to September 10 and 11 on September 12 with a couple of morning thunderstorms followed by a thunderstorm in parts of the area later in the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be 30° C at the start of the match, reducing to 27° C in the night.
Rain Prediction for September 12 in Colombo: According AccuWeather, there is chance of thunderstorms overnight and in the morning from 8 AM to 9 AM with thunderstorms returning again at 2 PM that will last till 4 PM and then again at 9 PM.
So, as per the weather forecast, the IND vs SL match is likely to be interrupted by rain. But there is chance of obtaining a result only if 4 hours of play is possible, which seems very likely, for a 20-over per side match.
