India vs Sri Lanka Colombo Test: Sonal Dinusha Breaks 67-year-old Record For Sri Lanka In Just His 2nd Test Match!
New Delhi, August 27: Sonal Dinusha has etched his name into the history books of cricket after he became the first Asian cricketer to score at least 50 runs in each of his first four Test innings against India. The left-handed batter, who made his debut for Sri Lanka at Galle, scored 100 and 84 in the first Test.
Dinusha followed his fine form with 103 in the first innings of the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. He backed it up with yet another half-century in the second innings. Currently, he is batting at the score of 80. Dinusha's valiant innings has helped Sri Lanka put up a fight against India in the second innings against India and taken a lead of 154 runs.

The previous batter to score 50 or more runs in each of his first four Test innings against India was England's Ken Barrington, who achieved the feat in 1959.

Sonal Dinusha has joined an elite group of batters after scoring at least 50 runs in each of his first four Test innings against India. The Sri Lankan batter achieved the feat during the ongoing series in August 2026.
Only four other players had previously accomplished the same milestone against India: England's Douglas Jardine and Ken Barrington, along with West Indies legends Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott.

What Other Record Can Sonal Dinusha Break?
Dinusha is on course to score a ton against India in the second innings. If he manages to do that, he will become the first player in the world to score three centuries on first two Tests against India.
So far, only one Sri Lankan batter has managed to score two centuries in his first two Tests against India. That feat was achieved by Duleep Mendis, who scored twin centuries for Sri Lanka in his first Test against India.
