
Bengaluru, August 3: Cheteswar Pujara, playing in his 50th Test, became the joint second-fastest Indian to score 4,000 runs in Test cricket with his predecessor at No 3 slot - Rahul Dravid. Pujara achieved this on the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo on Thursday (August 3).
Pujara and Dravid,who accomplished the feat in 2001, took 84 innings to reach the milestone. Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag - 81 innings each - are the fastest Indians to this mark.
Australia's Don Bradman holds the record of the fastest to reach 4,000 runs - 48 innings. England's Herbert Sutcliffe is in the second slot taking 68 innings. Reaching the landmark in 71 innings, West Indies' Sir Everton Weeks and Viv Richards are in the third position.
Other Indians in the list are Sachin Tendulkar (86), Mohammad Azharuddin (88), Virat Kohli (89) and G R Viswanath (96).
