India vs Vietnam Women's Football Match Highlights, AFC Olympics Qualifiers: IND 1-3 VNM at Full-Time

The referee blows the full time whistle and its India 1-3 Vietnam. The Blue Tigress are now virtually out of their chances of making it to the Paris Olympics next year as they lose back-to-back Round 2 matches to remain bottom of the group. They will now play for pride against Uzbekistan in their final Round 2 match on Wednesday (November 1)! The only positive for India from the game was the late goal by Sandhiya Ranganathan
90+4' Ritu Rani is beaten by the pace of Thi Bich Thuy on the counter and the winger tries to deliver a cross but Ritu blocks it away to concede a corner. Vietnam meanwhile makes a late change but it's not Pham Hai Yan, who is back on her feet and is not struggling at all to play
90+3' Play is halted for the last two minutes as Pham Hai Yan is down on the ground following a collision with an Indian player. She is stretchered off the field for the action to resume
90+1' India look certain to go out of the Olympic 2024 run unless they dramatically score three goals in the five minutes added time. After losing 0-7 to Japan in the first game, they now trail 1-3 to Vietnam in the injury time
87' Goalscorer Pham Hai Yan is booked for blocking an indirect freekick by Ritu Rani from the half line with her arm! Ritu Rani takes the resulting kick some 40 yards from the goal and it falls inside the box before disappearing into the arms of Vietnam goalkeeper
84' India are not going down easy as they put pressure through the right-wing time and again with Manisha switching flanks. However, Vietnam are keeping it tight at the back and have blocked every attempt for a cross

Vietnamese blink their eye for a moment and didn't shadow Indian players for an indirect freekick from India's own half by Ritu Rani. She delivers it long into the box and Sandhiya uses her fresh legs to reach it before anybody else and head it over the goalkeeper, who came off her line to save it! India finally has a goal to their name in Tashkent and comes after conceding 10 goals in 170 minutes!
80' INDIA FINALLY SCORES A GOAL! Sandhiya Ranganathan finds the opening goal! Ritu Rani assists!
75' An offensive change by India as forward Sandhya Ranganatha joins play in place of midfielder Indumathi. The change comes right after Pham Hai Yen came close to scoring a brace but Elangbam Panthoi came off her line to block a shot on target
73' Pham Hai Yen triples Vietnam's lead as she heads it in from a close range following a brilliant cross by Tran Thi Hai Linh from the right wing! IND 0-3 VNM
72' Anju Tamang is taken off and is replaced by Renu!
71' Three attacks from India in as many minutes and Manisha was involved in each of them. The last one also sees her charge into the box before the ball is intercepted away by a Vietnam defender for a corner! Nothing comes out of the corner as an Indian player committed a foul
68' Manish back flicks the ball to beat her marker on the left wing and run through on the counter! She feeds a cross-field ball to Grace Dangmei at the other wing but the substitute was caught offside!
63' Shilky Devi fouls Trans Thi Linh again and in the same area. The referee lets her off with a warning but makes a strong gesture that this is the last time she will let this pass. Meanwhile, Vietnam make back-to-back four changes changes in their line-up! Striker Hyun Nhyu is among the players to be taken off
60' Shilky Devi is booked for a late challenge on Tran Thi Hai Linh right in front of the referee. Meanwhile, India miss a good counter-attacking opportunity as Manisha gets the ball on the left flank and nears the box to deliver a cross. Her delivery, however, lacks the quality to reach the box as another opportunity goes begging with next to no quality shown by the Indian forward and midfielders
59' Grace Dangmei comes in for Soumya Guguloth, who had a quiet game, as Thomas Dennerby sense fresh legs in attack may give India better chances to get inside the box
53' Sangita commits a foul 35 yards from the goal as she brings down Hyun Hyu on the right side of the Indian box. The resulting freekick was delivered indirectly and cleared by the Indian defense. The backline looks compact in the second half as Vietnam are no longer penetrating the box like they did in the first half
50' Sanju dribbles the ball under challenge on the left side and tries to play a teammate through on the wing but her pass was poor and goes out of play for a throw
46' India begin on a positive not as an attack from the kick-off sees substitute Sangita receive the ball outside the box, she tries to set up a teammate inside the box but the pass lacks direction and rolls out for a goal kick!
Players are back on the field for the second half and India make a couple of changes, Astam Oraon, Sangita come on for Ashalata and Bala Devi!
Despite claims by Thomas Dennerby that India are team of equal stature to Vietnam, it has been quite evident that the South-East Asian nation are quite faster than us as Indian defenders struggle to keep up with them. The scoreline could have been far worse as Panthoi made some important saves while Hyunh Hu hit the framework twice. India certainly need to comeback in the game with a better approach as the first-half tactics worried their rivals a little
The referee blows the half time whistle after an additional minute of play with India finishing closer to the Vietnamese box as an attacking move couldn't be finished due to lack of time. It's India 0-2 Vietnam at HT
44' Lack of sensibility in passing again by India as Anju Tamang delivers a waste of through ball for Bala Devi on the counter with two Vietnamese defenders ahead of her. Right back Thi Van Su ensured the ball rolls out for a goal kick while Bala Devi was left frustrated
Hyunh Hyu rattles the crossbar with a lofted punch from 30 yards following a counter! Beats Panthoi with the flight but the ball lands on the crossbar before jumping out of the play for a goal kick! The opportunity came right after midfielder Indumathi disappointed with her passing as Anju Tamang was running on the right flank in hope of a through ball
38' While Vietnam continue to bombard the Indian defense with waves of attack, the Indian forward line has been poor in making use of any stray ball that came towards them. Indian forwards look isolated from each other as well as they fail to connect
33' Vietnam catch India on the break as Tuyet Dung runs into the ball using her sheer pace and is too fast for Sweety to catch. She shoots for the far post but Elangbam Panthoi makes a diving save! IND 0-2 VNM
32' Nothing fruitful comes out of the corner as it is headed clear by the Vietnamese but India are looking better with their counter-attacking moves as Indian forwards are able to track long balls from the back better. However, combination play has been disappointing
Anju Tamang runs hard to receive a ball in the Vietnamese half on the counter and looks to set up Bala Devi, who was fast runing towards the box, with a looping ball through two Vietnamese defenders. There wasn't elevation in the past and was headed clear to safety. Tamang, however, wins the ball back and manages to get a corner out of it! India's first for the game
27' Vietnam are calling shots in the game and are having little difficulty in getting back into the India box despite multiple bodies in defense
22' Vietnam double lead as Tran Thi Hai heads it in from close range following a brilliantly weighted cross from the right flank by Duong Thi Van! IND 0-2 VIE
The Indian women's football team is playing a do-or-die match in the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifiers as they face Vietnam in their second round 2 match at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Sunday (October 29).
Indian women's football team find themselves in a precarious situation after losing their opening match of the round to Asian giants Japan 7-0 in what was a reality check against the former World Cup winners. It's a do-or-die match as well for Vietnam, who lost 0-1 to Uzbekistan in their opening game.
Indian team head coach Thomas Dennerby said his side won't read too much on the result against a much superior side and fancy their chances against their remaining opponents, whom he feel are on equal footing. A positive result on the day is imperative.
Vietnam, however, have grown exponentially in the recent past as they played at the FIFA Women's World Cup earlier this year in Australia and New Zealand. The side qualified for the tournament for the first time on merit before losing all three of their group matches to USA, Portugal and Netherlands while failing to score any.
Dennerby, however, could be right about India's chances against the South East Asian side as they also lost by 0-7 margin to Japan, who fielded a second-string side to the Asian Games gold medal last month in Hangzhou. "I think tomorrow's game is going to be very similar to the ones at the Asian Games. I think the three teams apart from Japan here are quite even. Vietnam lost 0-1 to Uzbekistan. Hopefully, we have the best day tomorrow and on Wednesday (against Uzbekistan) as well."
The India vs Vietnam match will start at 3:30 PM IST and will be aired Live on Uzbekistan football federation's official YouTube and Facebook pages.
