Roseau (Dominica), July 13: Debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma gave India the perfect start with the bat after Ravichandran Ashwin's fifer decimated West Indies to 150 All Out on day 1 of the first Test at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica on Wednesday (July 12) night.
With more than an hour available for batting skipper Rohit (30 not out off 65 balls) and youngster Jaiswal (40 not out off 73 balls) shared an 80-run opening stand to bring down first innings deficit to 70 going into the second day.

Despite a couple of early LBW shouts against Rohit, India's opening stand didn't face issues in the third and final session on day 1. Jaiswal took his time to open his account, but as soon as he got adjusted to the pitch conditions, he started to take on the bowlers with confidence.
The 21-year-old opened his account with a beautifully executed shot to find the fence for a four. Rohit on the other hand looked confident with his shot selection and defensive approach for the majority of the closing session.
West Indies bowlers, meanwhile, struggled to find consistency in their line and length. This became evident after their review for an LBW appeal against Rohit was denied by the umpire's call. Both the Indian openers will be keen to convert their ominous starts into big scores on Day 2.
Earlier, nursing a bruised ego after WTC final snub last month, R Ashwin made the best possible comeback as his 33rd five-wicket haul put India in the driver's seat against a below-par West Indies.
Ashwin justified his top billing in ICC Test bowlers' ranking with figures of 5 for 60 in 24.3 overs to decimate West Indies for a lowly 150 in 64.3 overs with Ravindra Jadeja (3/26 in 14 overs) beautifully complementing him to make life miserable for the home team batters.
For the hosts, only the debutant Alick Athanaze showed some fight, scoring 47 runs off 99 balls before he too was sent packing by Ashwin. Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj also claimed a wicket a piece.
