By MyKhel Staff

India vs Zimbabwe: India wrapped up their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a convincing 42-run victory in the final game, played at the Harare Sports Club. This win secured a 4-1 series triumph for the visitors, setting the stage for their upcoming bilateral series in Sri Lanka.

Winning the toss, Zimbabwe's skipper Sikandar Raza opted to field first, hoping to exploit any early movement in the pitch. India, however, managed to post a competitive total of 167/6 in their 20 overs.

The innings was anchored by Sanju Samson, who played a crucial knock, scoring a well-compiled half-century. Despite losing early wickets, Samson's steady approach, coupled with some late-order hitting, ensured that India reached a challenging score.

The Indian innings began on a rocky note, with the early dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma. Shubman Gill, leading the side in this match, also fell cheaply, putting the team under pressure at 45/3 in the seventh over. However, Samson, along with Riyan Parag and Shivam Dube, steadied the ship. Samson's fifty was the highlight, featuring some exquisite shots, including a towering six down the ground.

Zimbabwe's bowlers had moments of brilliance, particularly Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava, who managed to contain the Indian batsmen with disciplined bowling. Faraz Akram also chipped in with key wickets, but the hosts struggled to maintain pressure consistently.

Chasing 168 for victory, Zimbabwe's innings got off to a shaky start, with opener Wessly Madhevere falling in the second over. Mukesh Kumar was the star with the ball for India, claiming four wickets and ensuring that Zimbabwe never really got going in their chase. Despite a brief resistance from the middle-order batsmen, including Sikandar Raza and Dion Myers, the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Zimbabwe's hopes were briefly lifted when Myers and Raza attempted to build a partnership. However, the introduction of India's spinners, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi, turned the tide decisively in India's favor. Sundar's wicket of Tadiwanashe Marumani and Bishnoi's economical spell tightened the screws on Zimbabwe's chase.

The final nails in the coffin came from Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande, who picked up crucial wickets in the middle overs, further denting Zimbabwe's hopes. Mukesh Kumar's return to clean up the tail ensured Zimbabwe were bowled out for 125 in 18.3 overs, sealing a comprehensive 42-run victory for India.
