Fresh from a 4-0 drubbing from England in the T20Is, the Indian team now travels to Zimbabwe for a three-match series. India will kick off their three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe on Thursday at the Harare Sports Club. For Shreyas Iyer's men, it will be a test of redemption.

With Gautam Gambhir unavailable for the tour, VVS Laxman will step in as India's interim head coach. The spotlight is also set to fall on 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is tipped to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma.

Ahead of the 1st T20I, Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer remarked, "We need to adapt as soon as we can. That's what we failed to do in Ireland. That was a reality check," he said at a press conference.

"We had a rough patch in England but a lot of positives out of that. We learned what we need to build as a team going forward. What kind of presence of mind, awareness and adaptability we need once we step onto the field. This is going to be a great challenge for us. Some of us are playing for the first time, so the quicker we adapt, the better result we would be getting," he said.

India has named a young squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe, with Yash Thakur and Ashok Sharma earning their maiden call-ups. Prabhsimran Singh is also in line to make his international debut.

The squad features emerging talents Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Harsh Dubey and Suryansh Shedge, while pace sensation Mayank Yadav returns after recovering from injury. The speedster is set for his first appearance since playing two T20Is in 2024.

Although India head into the series as favourites on paper, Zimbabwe will be optimistic about making the most of home conditions under captain Sikandar Raza. With experienced players such as Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Brian Bennett in their ranks, the hosts will look to push the visitors all the way.
