Indian Cricket Team withdraws after non-clearance from Government for Pakistan travel
The strained relationship between India and Pakistan has ended the hopes for the Indian team as they have withdrawn from the multinational cricket tournament in Pakistan.
Amid India's row with Pakistan over the Champions trophy, the Indian team for the blind has been denied clearance for travelling Pakistan. Although it got the clearance from sports ministry, the government of India has denied the Indian team.

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has officially announced India's withdrawal from the 4th T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, which was slated to be held in Pakistan from November 22 to December 3, 2024.
This decision follows the Indian government's non-clearance for the team to travel, a move reflecting the complex geopolitical tensions between the two neighbouring nations.
India and Pakistan's relations have long been fraught with challenges, impacting sporting exchanges between the two nations. This latest development is part of a broader trend, as Indian teams across sports have often refrained from traveling to Pakistan in recent years due to diplomatic and security concerns.
The decision comes just months after controversies surrounding the 2023 Asia Cup, where the hybrid model was adopted to balance India's refusal to play in Pakistan. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 set to take place in Pakistan, this withdrawal could reignite discussions about India's participation in major tournaments hosted by their neighbors.
While the withdrawal is a significant setback for India's blind cricket team, the CABI fully supports the government's stance. The association expressed understanding of the decision, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the nation's interests over competition.
"We play with passion, and we represent our country with immense pride. We have always looked forward to competing at the biggest stage, and it is disheartening to miss out on this opportunity. However, we know that the next World Cup is just around the corner, and we remain committed to our training and preparation," said Durga Rao Tompaki, Captain of the Indian Men's Cricket Team for the Blind.
Despite this setback, the association remains focused on nurturing talent and building a strong foundation for the team's future. The Indian team had been preparing rigorously for the tournament, holding successful coaching camps that showcased promising new players. According to CABI, this decision does not deter their long-term vision for blind cricket in India.
"We have had a successful coaching camp and have seen emerging talent that we believe can lead our team to greater heights. It's time to nurture these talents and ensure that our team is ready when the next tournament comes," added Tompaki.
CABI's withdrawal from the Blind T20 World Cup underscores the wider challenges faced by cricketing relations between India and Pakistan. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled in Pakistan, similar diplomatic hurdles have already emerged and India has cleared its stance of not travelling to the other side of the border.
