India Women were humiliated by England Women after getting bundled out for 80 runs in 16.2 overs in the second T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, December 9. England chased down the target with four wickets and 52 balls remaining to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Jemimah Rodrigues was the lone bright spot as she hit 30 off 33 balls while walking in to bat at number three. Smriti Mandhana (10) was the only other batter who scored in double digits.

On a day uncapped cricketers won fat pay-cheques in the WPL auction, Shafali Verma (0), Smriti Mandhana (10), skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (9), Deepti Sharma (0) cut a sorry figure with poor shot selection as England bowlers made merry at the iconic venue where they won the first T20I by 38 runs.
It was a clinical display by England as all their six bowlers returned with at least one wicket each. Charlie Dean (4-0-16-2), Lauren Bell (3-0-18-2), Sophie Ecclestone (3.2-0-13-2) and Sarah Glenn (3-1-13-2) bagged two wickets each.
Ecclestone, who took a stunning left-handed return catch to dismiss Richa Ghosh (4), gave the final blow when she pushed one through Saika Ishaque's defence to bring curtains on Indian innings. This was the third lowest target set by India.
In reply, England Women chased down the target in 11.2 overs but lost six wickets in the process. Renuka Singh dismissed both the openers Sophie Dunkley and Danielle Wyatt in the third over as the visitors were reduced to 19/2.
However, a partnership between Alice Capsey (25) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (16) took England Women past 60. Pooja Vastrakar removed the latter in the eighth over. Saika Ishaque helped India get rid of Capsey in the 10th over.
The twin blows from Deepti Sharma (2/4 in 2 overs) reduced England to 73/6 in 10.3 overs but Heather Knight (7*) and Sophie Ecclestone (9*) took their team past the winning margin with any more hiccups.
The third and final T20I will be played on Sunday, December 10. The two teams will then play a Test match against each other starting December 14 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
