Former Mumbai batter Amol Muzumdar is said to be the frontrunner for the job of India senior Women's Team coach, as per reports.
According to The Indian Express, the former Mumbai player is the candidate who will be the next head coach of Smriti Mandhana and co. The Indian women's team were devoid of a coach since Ramesh Pawar was removed from the role last year.

BCCI had sought applications for the next India coach and had also set a few criteria for that. The candidates were ought to represent India or any other country at the international level, or hold a minimum NCA Grade C coaching certificate, along with playing a minimum of 50 First Class matches.
Along with this, BCCI went for additional criteria like coaching an international team for one year, or coaching a T20 franchise or side for a couple of seasons. Understanding the game and previously managing a multicultural group was also desired.
Amol Muzumdar has plenty of coaching experience under his belt. He previously worked with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, and also was a coach of Mumbai senior team, which won the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy under him. The domestic stalwart also worked as the batting coach of South Africa in their India tour in 2019.
Muzumdar is expected to give guidance to the team management and build a strong women's senior team in the coming months. He is also given the responsibility to set the standards of fitness of the squad.
After the Powar fiasco last year, the Indian women's team played with out a designated coach and even took part in the Women's T20 World Cup earlier this year in the same way. Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who was working as a batting coach at NCA, had an enhanced role as he was integrated into the women's team for the trip to South Africa for the T20 World Cup.
