
The Indian Women's Cricket Team will begin their campaign in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday (February 12).
The Women In Blue who are placed in Group 2 in the showpiece event will play their opening league match at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side will take on Bismah Maroof and her band in the marquee tournament, which started Friday (February 10). The Indian women's cricket team - who were the runners-up in the previous edition of the tournament which was held in Australia - will be aiming to start their journey on a winning note.
Pakistan Women - who lost the series against Australia before T20 WC - will also be aiming for a winning start in the multi-nation tournament. India and Pakistan will also face stiff challenges from former champions England and West Indies along with Ireland in the league stage.
The two teams have clashed with each other on thirteen occasions in international cricket. Of these, India have won 10 times while Pakistan women came out victorious on three instances.
The Indian women's cricket team - who were the runners-up in the previous edition in Australia - will be looking to improve their performance this time around. India have players match winners like captain Harmanpreet, her deputy Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh, and Jemimah Rodrigues amongst others.

While the Pakistani team also possesses big players like skipper Maroof, Aimen Anwar, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Javeria Khan, Nida Dar, and Tuba Hassan amongst others.
