India Women's create history, cross 200-run mark for first time in T20I history - Check top five totals

By MyKhel Staff

India Women on Sunday July 21 created history by posting a 201-run total against UAE in their second Group A match of the Women's Asia Cup 2024. This was the first 200-plus total for India Women in their T20I history.

After being asked to bat first, India got off to a flying start from their openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. India Women vice-captain Mandhana was dismissed for 13 off 9, but her partner Shafali smoked five fours and a six en route to her 18-ball 37.

India Women lost the wickets of Shafali and Dayalan Hemalatha on consecutive deliveries, but soon a 54-run partnership off 39 balls flourished between captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. Once Rodrigues departed for 14 off 13, Harmanpreet got the company of Richa Ghosh, who was in mood to hammer UAE Women bowlers from the word go.

The duo partnered for 75 off 45. While Harmanpreet Kaur scored 66 off 47, Ghosh became the first Indian wicket-keeper batter in women's Asia Cup to hit a fifty, hammering as many as 12 fours and a six to remain unbeaten on 64 off 29. Harmanpreet got run out on the first ball of the 20th over.
