India Women’s T20 Asia Cup Dominance: The Records And Stars To Watch In 2026

India begin their Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 campaign against Thailand in Dubai on Sunday, with Harmanpreet Kaur's side aiming to reclaim the title after finishing runners-up in 2024.

India are the most successful team in the history of the Women's Asia Cup, with seven titles across the ODI and T20I formats. They have won the T20I edition three times - in 2012, 2016 and 2022 - and will be aiming for a record-extending fourth crown in 2026.

The tournament switched from the ODI format to T20 cricket in 2012. India have played 29 T20I Asia Cup matches, winning 25 and losing four.

Harmanpreet Kaur leads India's batting records

Harmanpreet Kaur is India's leading run-scorer in the T20I Asia Cup, having accumulated 571 runs in 25 matches.

The India captain also holds the record for most appearances in the competition, with 25 matches, and has led the side in 23 of them.

Mithali Raj, meanwhile, holds the record for India's highest individual score. She made an unbeaten 97 off 69 balls against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in 2018.

Mithali also has India's highest batting average in the competition at 61.42, while Richa Ghosh owns the highest strike rate at 179.38 among players to have faced at least 50 balls.

Deepti Sharma dominates India's bowling charts

Deepti Sharma is India's leading wicket-taker in the T20I Asia Cup, with 26 wickets from 19 matches.

She also holds the record for most wickets by an Indian bowler in a single edition after taking 13 wickets in eight matches during the 2022 tournament.

Poonam Yadav owns India's best bowling figures in the competition. She returned 4/9 against Bangladesh in Kuala Lumpur in 2018.

Their highest team total came two years later, with India posting 201/5 against the UAE in Dambulla.

At the other end of the scale, India's lowest total remains the 81 all out they managed against Pakistan in Guangzhou in 2012.

With three T20I titles already to their name, India enter the 2026 tournament as the team to beat. For Harmanpreet and her side, the target is clear: turn their record dominance into another Asia Cup title after the disappointment of finishing runners-up in 2024.
