India World Cup 2023 Squad Live Updates: BCCI announce 15-member India squad
Team India will announce their 15-member ICC World Cup 2023 squad on Tuesday (September 5) after chief selector Ajit Agarkar flew to Sri Lanka last week to meet captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to finalise the squad, which is also likely to feature reserves.
Agarkar is likely to meet the press and announce the squad at 1:30 pm IST with the focus set to be on batting depth and it is very likely that 15 members selected for the Asia Cup are set to retain their places with three players likely to miss out.

Having received a clearance his fitness from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), KL Rahul is set to be included in India's 15-member provisional World Cup squad, meaning there will be no place for Sanju Samson, who is currently in Sri Lanka with the Indian team as a travelling reserve.
The squad is unlikely to have anyone from outside the squad picked for the Asia Cup. Here is all the latest news and updates from the India World Cup 2023 squad announcement:
Rohit Sharma on players missing out
"It is always a disappointment when someone misses out. But you have to take bold decisions. I have faced it myself."
Rohit Sharma on Squad Balance
"We have 3 all-rounders, 4 seamers, 7 batters. I don't think we could do more than that. Whatever we had available, we gave it a thought to come up with the squad, so that we get some batting depth, spinning options. This is our best combination."
Rohit Sharma sends strong message
"I want everyone to be fit and available on a particular day, then we can make choices who is the best option available to take on the opposition."
Agarkar on Kuldeep's effect
"There are discussions, because you want best balance in the team. Kuldeep takes the ball away from left-handers...if you have quality bowlers, they will get to the opposition on the day."
Rohit on India's Starting XI
"If you have quality playes in the team, challenges (to select an XI) go up....we have to know our opponents, who are the players in form at that moment. All of these things will be in consider."
Rohit on how India can get success
"We need to create both bowling and batting depth...that is what was lacking in our team for a few years. When you talk about batting depth, the No. 8 and No. 9 positions become very crucial...We have spoken to the bowlers...how they need to put their hand up to do the job for the team with the bat as well....it's just that you got to be mindful of what you do...i will try to use my resources the best I can."
Rohit Sharma in India strategies
"50-over format is different altogether, especially the forma itself, 9 league games, then semis and final, 11 games. We played in 2019. There is always chance to make a comeback. We saw last time how England made a comeback. So it gives you time to think about strategies and plans, wherein T20 format can be slightly different."
KL Rahul In, Chahal Out
KL Rahul has been included while Ishan Kishan is also in the team. No Yuzvendra Chahal as India opt for Kuldeep Yadav.

India's All-Rounder Options For World Cup
All rounders will play a key role in the white-ball format and India will be keen to bolster that department. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the two immediate picks as all-rounders for India, while Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur will be the other two picks in the squad for the World Cup.
Will Sanju Samson be looked at as back-up keeper?
The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter has been kept as a backup player for Team India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka. There is a clamour for Sanju Samson to be included in the WC squad but he might miss the bus as KL Rahul will be the second wicketkeeper-batter apart from Ishan Kishan.

Can Rahul Keep Wickets?
Harsha Bhogle understands why India wants KL Rahul in the side as a middleorder batter, but doesn't know if he would be the best wicketkeeping option.
I can see why India want KL Rahul in the middle order in the World Cup. I would have him in my team too. But I think it is imperative that he has kept wickets in at least two back to back pressure games before that

India Wicketkeeper Options For World Cup
Following Rishabh Pant's injury late last year, the wicketkeeping position in Team India has been up for grabs across formats. And now it's down to only two players as Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul are likely to get a nod for the World Cup. However, there are a few question marks over Rahul's fitness and if he can keep wickets.
Possible Omissions From Asia Cup Squad
Reports state that the three players likely to miss out on making the cut for the World Cup from the Asia Cup 2023 squad are Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson, who travelled to Sri Lanka as a back up wicketkeeper.
