India Playing XI in World Cup: India's Playing 11 in previous ODI World Cup Finals

India are set to take on Australia in the Final of the World Cup 2023 on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The whole nation is waiting with bated breath as Rohit Sharma and his gladiators meet Pat Cummins and his troops in the championship clash. The Indian team have so far all of their 10 matches in this tournament and are looking in excellent touch.

As the eleven warriors of the Indian team take the field in the quest for the third star, we shall dive into the history books today.

India in ODI World Cup Finals

This is going to be India's 4th appearance in ODI World Cup Finals. Previously India took part in the Final in 1983, 2003 and 2011. In 1983, Kapil Dev's India turned out to be the giant killers as they defeated West Indies in the Final.

In 2011, MS Dhoni's India lifted the coveted World Cup for the second time in history as they beat Sri Lanka in the final. It was also history as Dhoni's India became The first team to lift a World Cup on home soil.

Sourav Ganguly's team India failed to lift it in 2003 as billion hearts were broken in South Africa when Australia beat the Men in Blue in the Final.

World Cup 1983

In 1983, it was Kapil Dev who led India to the Final. On June 25, 1983, history was created as Eleven Minos from the Indian team The mighty West Indies at Lords The Indian team had the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, and Mohinder Amarnath in the batting while they were the likes of Madan Lal and Roger Binny who spearheaded the bowling attack.

World Cup 2003

In 2003, India had an amazing run. No one gave Sourav Ganguly's India a chance in that World Cup, but it was the rise of a new India, a much bolder and more aggressive version. The youngsters of this edition nurtured by Ganguly paved the path for India's glory eight years later.

World Cup 2011

There are many players from the 2003 team in this squad as India lifted the World Cup for the second time in their history. This time it was under 'Captain Cool' MS Dhoni, whose excellent leadership took India to glory. Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir were key contributors to the team which went on to create history. It was a magical evening at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as the whole nation was engrossed in team India's success.
