Indian Cricket Teams felicitated in Delhi after Gold Medal in Asian Games 2023

The Asian Games 2023 Gold Medal winning Indian men's and women's Cricket Teams were felicitated on Tuesday (October 10) by the BCCI.

The Indian team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, won the Gold Medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games. This is the first time the men's cricket team participitated in the continental event, and it was a convincing performance from the Indian contingent.

In the Final, India took on Afghanistan and although the match got washed out, the Indian boys were handed the Gold medal for their higher seeding. And as the team returned to the country on Monday, players and the coaching staff were felicitated.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny welcomed the Golden Boys and honoured the team for their achievements in a ceremony in Delhi. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma starred for the Men in Blue in the tournament.

Indian women's team also racked up a Gold medal in the women's cricket event at the Asian Games 2023. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. defeated Sri Lanka in the Final and the women's contingent was also felicitated. Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues starred with the bat, while teenage bowling sensation Titas Sadhu pulled off a player of the match performance in the final.

With Cricket now being included in the 2028 Paris Olympics after a gap of 128 years, the Indian team will be aiming for their maiden Gold in the global event.
