Team India may have new apparel manufacturers for them as Adidas, a global sports equipment and apparel brand, is set to get the rights for the Indian cricket team.
Adidas will be replacing the current apparel sponsors Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited, the parent brand of Killer Jeans.
According to reports, the Adidas deal can come in as early as June this year and will last till March 2028.
Killer Jeans came in as a filler for Mobile Premier League (MPL), which was the main apparel sponsor but pulled out of the deal prematurely. Before that, the Indian team had Nike on their shirt as the global brand paid BCCI INR 370 crore for their deal from 2016 to 2020.
According to BCCI sources, the board is elated to welcome back one global brand with cricketing ties as the previous sponsor was devoid of any cricketing connection and the board felt wearing those shirts kind of depleted the brand value of the Indian cricket team.
With Adidas coming in, it will definitely be a huge boost for BCCI and the Indian team as a whole, as it will hike their brand value with Adidas as their stakeholder.
Adidas have a long-standing relationship with sports entities. They are the leading apparel stakeholder in the global sports arena and are associated with some elite names.
FIFA World Cup winners Argentina, Italy, France, Germany all have Adidas as sponsors. Top Football clubs Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid also wear Adidas-manufactured kits.
