Indian spikers thrash Pakistan 3-1 in opening match of Test series
Lahore, June 27 (UNI) Following up their gold-winning performance at the second Asian Central Zone Volleyball Championship in Islamabad, India registered a resounding 3-1 win in the four-match volleyball series opener against arch-rival Pakistan at Peshawar.
The new-look Indian team displayed excellent agility to triumph 25-18, 25-12, 23-25 and 25-17 in a 80-minute encounter.
The Indian spikers got into the groove by taking the first set 25-18 and followed it up by dominating the second set with a 25-12 win.
In the third set the Pakistani players rallied back to pocket the third set 25-23 but any hopes the neighbours had of getting back into the game were dashed with last set going in favour of the Indians, 25-17.
Throughout the match, the Indians stuck to the plan to negate the threat posed by the Pak spiker duo of Naseer Ahmed and Kashif Mansoor.
The second leg will be played on Indian soil some time in the month of August.
The next match of the series will be held at Wah on June 28, followed by the third Test at Islamabad on June 30 and fourth one at Lahore on July 2.
