IND vs AUS: Nathan Lyon Acknowledges Indian Team's Collective Talent Beyond Bumrah and Kohli Ahead of Pink ball Test

India's cricket team is filled with exceptional talent, and Australia isn't just preparing for standout players like Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli. Spinner Nathan Lyon emphasised that the entire Indian squad is formidable.

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, discussions have centred around key Indian players, but Lyon insists that the focus should be on the whole team.

Lyon Praises Indian Teams Overall Talent

Cricket is a team sport, and success depends on collective performance. India has extraordinary players like Bumrah, but it's not just about individual brilliance. "I look at the Indian squad and see a group of superstars," Lyon remarked before the pink ball Test. The rest of the Indian team is also incredibly skilled, making them a formidable opponent.

Respect for Indian Talent

Lyon expressed respect for every Indian player who will take the field on Friday. He stated, "We have nothing but respect for every Indian cricketer who takes the field on Friday." However, this respect doesn't mean Australia won't compete fiercely. They are determined to play their style of cricket against one of the world's best teams.

In Perth, seasoned off-spinner R Ashwin, with 536 Test wickets, was left out of India's playing XI. Instead, all-rounder Washington Sundar was chosen as the sole spin option. This decision surprised many, including Lyon. "More than surprises me," he said about Ashwin's exclusion.

Quality Bench Strength

Lyon acknowledged India's depth in talent, noting that players like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, with over 300 wickets each, are remarkable talents even when not in the playing XI. "It's pretty remarkable to see the quality of player that are sitting on the bench," he added.

Debutant Nitish Reddy showcased his aggressive style by hitting Lyon for several boundaries in Perth. Despite this, Lyon wasn't taken aback by Reddy's performance. "I wasn't surprised," he commented, seeing it as an opportunity to create chances.

The second Test match is set to commence on Friday (December 6). Both teams are preparing to bring their best game to the field, promising an exciting contest between two highly skilled sides.
