Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle and legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag have been named captains in the upcoming inuagural edition of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL), scheduled to be held in Dehradun.
The inaugural IVPL will be staged at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun from February 23 to March 3, featuring many former Indian players and legends from across the globe.

While Sehwag is set to lead the Mumbai Champions, Gayle has been named the skipper of Telangana Tigers for the upcoming edition of Indian Veteran Premier League.
The swashbuckling openers Sehwag and Gayle were excited and thrilled to be part of the tournament, which is going to be one of many T20 tournaments that has seen the legends of the game get back to action.
"I'm very excited to be part of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL). I'll be playing for Mumbai Champions. Let's support Mumbai Champions and meet you all in Dehradun," Sehwag said in a statement.
Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, who played 21 matches in the IPL, will also be seen in action for the Mumbai Champions. Another former IPL player Iqbal Abdulla will take the field alongside Sehwag in the IVPL.
Expressing his excitement for the tournament, Gayle said, "What gets me going? My belief in myself and the sounds of the crowd going crazy. This is the Universe Boss, and I'm back on the pitch with big names in the first Indian Veteran Premier League. So gear up for the IVPL because old is gold."
Joining Gayle in the Telangana Tigers lineup are former Indian cricketers Sudip Tyagi and Manpreet Goni, along with former West Indies batter Ricardo Powell.
While Telangana Tigers and Mumbai Champions have revealed their captains, the four other teams will announce their skippers in the lead up to the tournament.
Organized by the Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) and managed by 100 Sports, the IVPL promises an extraordinary showcase of cricketing talent, bringing together veterans such as Sehwag, Munaf Patel, Suresh Raina, Rajat Bhatia, Gayle, Praveen Kumar, Yusuf Pathan, Herschelle Gibbs, and many more.
The participating teams include VVIP Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Legends, Red Carpet Delhi, Chhattisgarh Warriors, Telangana Tigers, and Mumbai Champions.
Each team is a powerhouse of talent, as cricketing legends and regional stars come together to relive their passion for the game. Each team will have four to five iconic players from across the World.
The matches will be broadcast live in India on the Eurosport channel, DD Sports, and Fancode and tickets for the matches at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will soon be available for purchase.
