Indians passion for cricket can help me overcome fear of touring: Trescothick

London, Oct.3 (ANI): Former England Test opener Marcus Trescothick has said that the passion shown for cricket by Indians can help him overcome his fear of touring.

The Somerset batsman is set to fly out for the Champions League Twenty20 to do battle with the world's best club sides next week.

But the former England man, 33, has not played abroad since quitting the 2006/07 Ashes tour after suffering from a stress-related illness.

"Just experiencing playing in India again is what I am looking forward to most. I know it is a challenge after what I have been through, but cricket is a religion over there and the atmosphere at the games will be incredible," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

Somerset qualifed for the Champions League by finishing runners-up to Sussex in the Twenty20 Cup.

All eyes immediately switched to Trescothick, and the question of whether he would travel out to India for the tournament.

The left-handed opener will make the trip with his wife and link-up with the squad late, before taking part in training and at least one warm-up game before the tournament.

Somerset is grouped with IPL side Deccan Chargers and Trinidad and Tobago, with Tresco claiming the experience will benefit the youngsters in the squad. (ANI)
