He then represented Bengal in domestic tournaments and played in the Ranji Trophy. His outstanding bowling prowess with Bengal earned him a national team call-up in the ODI teams, but is yet to make his international debut.

And as he prepares for another tour with Team India, the Bengal bowler will be hoping to get himself into the mix for a start and earn his maiden appearance for India.

Kumar has been picked up for both Test and ODI squads, as India play 2 Tests and 3 ODIs which start from July 12.

And after his selection with the national team, the 29-year-old had a brief chat with MyKhel and gave his reaction to the proud moment. When we asked about his selection, the player said he is excited and nervous at the same time.

"The feeling is good. I felt very happy after the selection. I am very excited and nervous at the same time," Kumar said to MyKhel.

Mukesh has always given special credit to his late father who was a massive inspiration in his journey. The player has previously regretted that his father couldn't watch him play IPL, but the player confirmed he has got his mother's blessings after he informed her about India selection.

"Maine mummy ko batayaa apne selection ke baare me, aur mummy mujhe aashirwad di (I told my mother about my selection to the Indian team, and she gave her blessings to me)," Kumar further said to us.

The player had a decent outing with Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023 season. He picked up 7 wickets in 10 matches for the Capitals in the IPL. He also has 149 wickets in 39 first-class matches for Bengal.
