Indo-Pak Test series starts in Karachi

By Staff

Lahore, Sep 21 (UNI) The much awaited India-Pakistan Test series will get under way from Karachi with a three-day side match early next year.

It would be followed by a Test match at the same venue while the next two Tests will be played here and again in Karachi.

The Indian team is expected to reach Pakistan on January 4 and will play three Tests and five One-day Internationals besides a Twenty20 match.

Rawalpindi will be back on the international cricket scene following missing the cut for the last three years. Rawalpindi last hosted a One-day International against England and also staged a one-dayer and Test matches during the India team on its last visit here.

''The series gets under way with a three-day match to be played in Karachi and it would be followed by the first Test at the same venue. The Test series will be followed by the limited overs series,'' an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.

India will also play a Twenty20 match during their 50-day stay in Pakistan.

''The itinerary will be made public once we get clearance from the International Cricket Council (ICC),'' the official said.
