Injured Hussey in doubt for ODI series

Melbourne, Jan 17 (AFP) Senior batsman Mike Hussey is indoubt for the rest of Australia''s one-day international seriesagainst England after sustaining a "significant" hamstringinjury, Cricket Australia said today.

Hussey, 35, injured his left hamstring while taking asecond run in Australia''s six-wicket victory in the openingmatch of the seven-game ODI series in Melbourne yesterday.

"Scans today have confirmed that Mike Hussey sustained asignificant left hamstring injury during the first ODI againstEngland at the MCG," Australia''s physiotherapist AlexKountouris said.

"The course of management for this injury will bedetermined in the next 24 hours."

Shane Watson, who scored a match-winning unbeaten 161 toguide Australia to victory, said Hussey appeared okay at thetime of his setback.

"I think he''s got a little bit of hammy stiffness, Iprobably pushed him one too many to (Paul) Collingwood,"Watson said after the match.

"He seemed to be okay, there was no real talk about arunner, I think he''s alright."

Hussey''s injury comes as Australia''s squad for nextmonth''s World Cup on the sub-continent is to be announced ontomorrow. (AFP)
