''International cricket not returning to Pak in near future''

Karachi, Jan 14 (PTI) Dave Richardson, ICC generalmanager for cricket operations, feels that the PakistanCricket Board''s initiative to host the final of the country''spremier first class competition under lights will have apositive impact on the sport.

Richardson said that the ICC, too, was working on severalrecommendations to make five-day cricket including Testmatches more interesting.

"The PCB has taken a bold decision to hold the five-dayfinal under lights and it will help popularise the sport aswell," Richardson said.

He said the ICC was considering holding Test matchesunder lights in a bid to make it more interesting andattractive for the spectators.

Richardson, however, made it clear that it was notpossible for an immediate return of international cricket toPakistan.

"I think once there is an improvement in the securityconditions and arrangements then teams can be convinced tostart looking at playing in Pakistan again," he said.

Richardson is in Karachi on the invitation of the PCB towatch the final of the Quaid Azam trophy being held for thefirst time under lights and with an orange coloured ball.

He inspected the security arrangements in the stadiumalong with former captain Javed Miandad, and both agreed thattheir was a need for countries to experiment.
