Inzamam criticizes PCB for making Pak a 'laughing stock' in cricket world

By Super Admin

Lahore, July 10 (ANI): Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for dissolving the national senior and junior selection committees, and said that the board has made a mockery of the country in the cricket world.

"The way the selection committee issue was handled it made us a laughing stock in world cricket," The Nation quoted Haq, as saying.

Haq lambasted the board for accepting chief selector Abdul Qadir's resignation, and said that board officials should have tried to address Qadir's complaint.

"The board could have listened to whatever grievances Qadir had and refused to accept his resignation. I don't understand the purpose and logic of dissolving the selection committees just days after we won the World Cup," he said.

Commenting on Pakistan's humiliating defeat in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle, he said the team lacked exposure at the international level as the players were a playing a Test match after a long gap.

"The team has not played regular Test cricket since last year. In the last 18 months we have played just three Tests. So, obviously it was always going to be difficult in Sri Lanka," Haq said.

He blamed the batsmen for not playing according to their potential and said that they should have shown more application and concentration during the run chase.

"I think they are struggling adjusting back to Test cricket where the pressure is different from other forms of the sport," he added. (ANI)
