'Quarter-finals' starting today will clear IPL 'traffic snarl'

Bengaluru, May 16: It can't be more tight than this. Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8) has just four matches left in the group stage but no team has yet confirmed a place in the last four.

Apart from Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) who have been knocked out, all the remaining six teams are jostling for a place in the play-offs and they are all stuck within three points at the moment.

It means the remaining four matches in the league are virtual quarter-finals. The last four matches are:

  • KXIP vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) [Mohali, May 16]
  • Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) [Mumbai, May 16]
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs DD [Bengaluru, May 17]
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) [Hyderabad, May 17]

In the points table, CSK are at the top with 16 points from 13 matches while the RCB and KKR are second and third with 15 points. The SRH, MI and RR have 14 points. All the teams have played 13 matches.
