Bengaluru, Jan 23: Over 700 cricketers have registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 Players Auction to be held here on February 6.
Some of the big names will be up for grabs for the 8 teams including 2 new franchises - Rising Pune Supergiants, captained by MS Dhoni and Rajkot. (Yuvraj's each run Rs 6.45 lakh)
Yuvraj Singh, who created a record during last year's auction by winning a Rs 16 crore bid from Delhi Daredevils, has been released this year and will again go under the hammer.
This time, Yuvraj has a base price of Rs 2 crore. It will be interesting to see who picks the all-rounder and for what price.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has circulated a register of over 700 players who will be eligible for Indian Premier League (IPL) auction next month," are report in "Mumbai Mirror" said today (January 23).
"There are exactly 146 capped players of which 25 are Indians," it added. The final list of players for the auction is likely to be about 300, by January 25.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen also has a base price of Rs 2 crore. Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik too have same base price.
