Batting first, Pune posted a formidable total of 163 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ben Stokes scored his maiden 50 of 32 balls while Manoj Tiwary scored an unbeaten 40 of 23 balls.

Pune did not have a great start to the match as they lost 4 crucial wickets including Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and MS Dhoni for just 79 runs. [Report]
But Ben Stokes and Manoj Tiwary architected a 61 runs partnership at a very crucial juncture to give the visiting team some ground.

Punjab in reply had a stale start losing quick couple of wickets. They too had lost 4 wickets within 85 runs. Imran Tahir took 2 important wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Axar Patel to keep the pressure on the home side.
But Maxwell had other plans as he along with David Miller created havoc and won the match for his team.
The skipper scored 44 runs of just 20 balls and his South African partner contributed 30 runs.
