IPL 2017: Feeling 'little weird', Virat Kohli gives update on when he is likely to play

RCB captain Virat Kohli has updated on his fitness levels as he wants to be "120 per cent fit" before returning to play in IPL 2017.

Hyderabad, April 5: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli today (April 5) said he wants to be "120 per cent fit" before he plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.

Champions Trophy schedule; IPL fixtures

The 10th edition of IPL got under way tonight at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosting RCB.

Speaking to the host broadcaster Sony SIX TV during the match, Kohli said his priority was playing for India in the Champions Trophy, which will be held in England in June.

Kohli has been sidelined from action due to a shoulder injury, which he sustained during a Test against Australia in Ranchi last month.

Stating that it is a "little weird" not to play IPL for RCB, Kohli said he will not return to field unless he is fully fit.

"I don't want to take any chances with Champions Trophy coming up. I want to be 120% fit," Kohli told former India batsman and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar.

On missing IPL, he said, "Last time I missed a game for RCB was in first season (2008). I have been playing for 8 to 9 years (for RCB). That is little bit weird (not to play). I missed a Test match (against Australia in Dharamsala). It is not that frustrating."

In Kohli's absence, RCB have named Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as stand-in skipper.
