IPL 2023: 10 Players Who Are Likely To Dominate IPL Season 16

The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to open on March 31 and is expected to conclude with the final in the final weekend of May.

Like last season, ten teams will do battle for the coveted title in IPL 2023 with over 150 players, including over 50 overseas stars, likely to take field in the 74-match tournament.

Players likely to dominate in IPL 2023

Since it's inception, we have witnessed some players take the tournament by storm with individual brilliance or consistent performance right from the very first match of IPL when Brendon McCullum smashed a hundred.

There have been some memorable performances over the years, and we expect the same in this year's tournament as well with a few players heading into IPL 2023 on good form and huge reputation. So, now let's take a look at those players that will take IPL 2023 by storm.

10 Players Who Are Likely To Dominate in IPL 2023

Axar Patel

The Indian all-rounder has been in fine form especially with the bat heading into the tournament. The left-arm spinner, who hardly got to bowl in the recent outings for the national team, has shown his ability with the bat, scoring crucial runs in the Test series and also scoring in the ODIs. As the vice captain of Delhi Capitals, Axar, who showed signs of form with the bat in 2022, is expected to play a crucial role for the side and dominate IPL 2023.

Jos Buttler

Last season's MVP and Orange Cap winner is once again expected to be in the race for top honours in IPL 2023. Buttler capped off 2022 by leading England to the T20 World Cup title in Australia. The wicketkeeper-batter has returned to form right before the tournament and is guaranteed to be one of the players to dominate during IPL 2023 as he looks to take Rajasthan Royals one step further after missing out on the title last season.

Umran Malik

The Indian speedster dominated the charts for fastest delivery for most matches during the last season. Umran Malik is once again expected to fight for the fastest ball of the season with the likes of Anrich Nortje and Lockie Ferguson. The Jammu Kashmir pacer was among the top wicket-takers last season and is expected to better his wicket tally this season for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mitchell Marsh

The Australian all-rounder, who missed most of last season for Delhi Capitals and his national team with injury, has been in incredible form heading into IPL 2023. Marsh was recently awarded the player of the series in the ODI series against India, showcasing his prowess as an opener. For DC, he may bat at number three, but will dominate whenever he gets the opportunity.

Shubman Gill

The in-form Indian batter like most of his compatriots was not among the runs in the recent ODI series against Australia, but before that he dominated in both white ball formats with the bat, scoring 4 hundreds, including a double hundred in ODIs and a maiden hundred in T20Is. Gill is expected to dominate for the defending champions Gujarat Titans.

Players that may dominate IPL 2023

Suryakumar Yadav

Although he has been out of form with three golden ducks in the recent ODI series against Australia, last year's T20I player of the year and the player who smashed a record 68 sixes in 2022, can't be written off in the shortest format. Suryakumar, who has already scored a ton in T20Is this year, will bring his 360 degree domination for to Wankhede and the other venues in IPL this year, playing a key role for Mumbai Indians.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

The 2021 Orange Cap winner showed glimpses of his form from the previous edition in 2022, but will be keen to dominate as the Chennai Super Kings return to their den in Chepauk. In the domestic circuit, Gaikwad scored 2 hundreds in 6 innings for Maharashtra and is expected to carry his form into IPL 2023 to form a great partnership with Devon Conway.

KL Rahul

Often criticized for his strike rate, Rahul has always been among the top run-scorers in IPL over the years. The Indian opener has four hundreds to his name in the Indian Premier League and one can't be surprised if he adds to that record, in the process also helping Lucknow Super Giants get even further after an eliminator finish last season.

Virat Kohli

The star Indian batter has not been involved in T20Is this year, but scored his maiden hundred in the format at the Asia Cup 2022 and also finished as the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup last year. The 34-year-old Kohli, who still holds the record for most runs in the IPL and in a single season, has been among the runs in Tests and ODIs, making him an in-form batter heading into the IPL 2023 for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Arshdeep Singh

The Indian pacer, who has had a mixed fortune since breaking into the national team, has proved time and again to be a fighter by bouncing back after poor games. The Punjab Kings spearhead Arshdeep will play a vital role for the team that is searching their first IPL title alongside the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone.
