IPL 2023: 'His brother won Orange Cap but he can win the tournament' - Ex-India's star major claim

By MyKhel Staff

Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has made a bold prediction ahead of the IPL 2023 regarding Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

Marsh has been in sensational form recently and he proved his mettle during the recently concluded 3-match ODI series against Australia.

The right-hand batter opened the batting for the visitors and scored 194 runs at an average of 97 and a strike rate of 131.08. He was adjudged Player of the Series for his superb run in the series which Australia won 2-1.

Jadeja has pointed out that his brother Shaun Marsh won the Orange Cap for Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) in the inaugural season back in 2008 but the team failed to win the trophy.

Making the bold prediction Jadeja added that the impact of Marsh junior is such that Delhi would end up winning their first-ever IPL title if Marsh wins the Orange Cup in the 16th edition of the tournament.

“What a performance (from Mitchell Marsh). Delhi (Capitals) fans would be very happy with this. Such a big player and now he has to come to form.

"His brother had won the Orange Cap once, but Punjab couldn't win the tournament then. But if he (Mitchell) wins the Orange Cap, their team will win the tournament, such is the impact of this player,” Jadeja told Cricbuzz.

Delhi Capitals will be led by Marsh's compatriot David Warner this season. Regular captain Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the tournament following his multiple injuries due to a fatal car crash in December. The Delhi-based franchise has named Axar Patel as their vice-captain.

Delhi have qualified for the play-offs in three of their last four seasons. They face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their first match of IPL 2023 on April 1 in Lucknow.
