Anrich Nortje bowled a cracking 149kmph delivery during the Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans (DC vs GT) match that left an in-form Shubman Gill stunned during match 7 of IPL 2023 at the Aruj Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. The Gujarat Titans opener was beaten by the sheer pace as it went through the gap between his bat and pad to claim the stumps. Watch the video below

This wasn't the only moment when Nortje's raw pace bamboozled defending champions' top order as he earlier clean-bowled Wriddhiman Saha off his very first ball of the IPL 2023. The delivery was bowled at a pace of 143.5 kmph and nipped in sharply after falling on the good length of the off stump.

Nortje, who missed the Capitals' first match of the season as he was away on international duty, returned for his second over to take the wicket of Gill, who scored a match-winning half-century in the last game.

Nortje is now also in the race for the fastest delivery of the IPL 2023 with the likes of Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Umran Malik, Jofra Archer among others. Wood bowled at 151.2 kmph during LSG vs CSK match to dismiss MS Dhoni while Malik bowled 152kmph for Sunrisers Hyderabad during their match against Rajasthan Royals at the weekend.

Mark Wood is also leading the Purple Cap race with seven wickets as he took 5/14 against Delhi Capitals to start Lucknow Super Giants' season on a positive note. The English pacer took two wickets in the next match against CSK.
