New Delhi, May 12: Delhi Capitals assistant coach Pravin Amre admitted losing a wicket in the first over in most matches in IPL 2023 has been an area of concern that he hopes the team corrects in the remaining matches of the season.
DC has lost at least a wicket in the opening over of their innings in six matches this season and the Delhi-based team has lost the most number of wickets (27) inside the powerplay in IPL 2023.

As the Delhi Capitals prepare to take on Punjab Kings in their next TATA IPL 2023 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Saturday (May 13), assistant coach Amre said the team would like to improve in that area.
"We have lost a wicket in the first over in six matches this season. This has been a concern for us. And we are focussing on improving in that area. We have done well in the powerplay overs in a few games and we'll look to replicate those performances," Amre was quoted as saying in a release.
Delhi Capitals lost their first five games this season before responding with 4 wins in the next 6 matches. Amre lauded the team's character, especially in games against Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
"We've shown a lot of character after our first five games. Defending a small total against Gujarat Titans at their home ground and the way we played against RCB gave us a lot of confidence. We know that we have the potential and we'll look to execute a strategy which will work for us in the next game," Amre added.
Phil Salt has been one of the in-form batters for the Capitals this season after Axar Patel and David Warner, scoring 168 runs in 6 innings. The Assistant Coach also heaped praise on wicketkeeper-batter Salt.
"Salt has made an immense contribution this season. He plays a fearless brand of cricket. He has adapted to Indian wickets well. He is the only DC batter to receive a Player of the Match Award this season," Amre said.
