Chennai Super Kings have had a reputation for acquiring veterans. The likes of MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali do elevate their average squad age, but in the auction, they roped in some young talents like Shaikh Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu - which have helped to claw their average age down by a year compared to last season.

The 2016 champions also made a captaincy change in the 2023 season as former captain Kane Williamson was released and South African batter Aiden Markram was appointed as the captain for the upcoming season.
