IPL 2023: Best 11 From League Stage of Season 16 - MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Yuzvendra Chahal miss out

IPL 2023: Picking a bunch of eleven players from a lot of hundreds of players in the best T20 league in the world is not at all an easy task. With limited slots, tough calls to pick the best amongst bests have to be taken.

Take for example, openers Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devon Conway have done wonderfully well this season. However, only two from the lot can be picked for the position.

MyKhel has done its best to pick the 'Best IPL 2023 11' from league stage of the tournament. Have a look.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Leaving out the Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener from the 'IPL 2023 Best 11' would be a crime. The youngest Indian uncapped batter to score 600-plus runs in the season, Jaiswal finished the league stage with 625 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.07 and a strike rate of 163.61.

The southpaw hit five fifties and one hundred. On one occasion, he finished with 98 unbeaten runs against KKR. He looked set to cross the 700-run mark but unfortunately RR failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Shubman Gill: Two back-to-back hundreds in the last two league games for Gujarat Titans (GT) has taken him to 680 runs in 14 matches at an average of 56.66 and a strike rate of 152.46.

The 23-year-old looks unstoppable at the moment. The right-hand, left-hand combination between Gill and Jaiswal will be an added advantage in the 'Best IPL 2023 XI' from the league stage of the tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav (C): The Mumbai Indians (MI) star snuggled in the first few matches before getting back into his elements. The 32-year-old finished the league stage of IPL 2023 with 511 runs in 14 matches at an average of 42.58 and a strike rate of 185.14.

He hit one hundred and four fifties during the period. His presence at number three ensures an attacking approach for a longer duration. A slump in run rate can also be avoided in case an opener departs early.

Heinrich Klaasen (WK): The South Africa was highly impressive in the league stage and therefore makes entry as first overseas star in Mykhel's 'IPL 2023 Best 11'. In 12 matches, he scored 448 runs at an average of 49.77 and a strike rate of 177.07.

He delivered his best when the team needed it. In fact, the wicketkeeper-batter was the only one from SRH who stood up and fought. Promoted at number four against RCB, Klaasen slammed 104 runs off 51 balls.

Rinku Singh: The KKR batter has been around for a while but IPL 2023 saw his transformation from a player to a superstar. Winning matches with fours and sixes have made him a household name.

What stood out was Rinku's consistency and ability to soak intense pressure time and again. In the league stage, he scored 474 runs in 14 matches at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52.

Nicholas Pooran: The West Indies star has been brutal in slog overs and helped Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finish on high notes time and again. The league stage saw him score 358 runs in 14 matches at an average of 32.54 and a strike rate of 173.78.

Pooran is the second overseas star in MyKhel's 'IPL 2023 Combine XI' from the league stage of the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja: A tough choice had to be made between Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. Jadeja was selected on the basis of his bowling form and batting prowess.

In the league stage, he picked 17 wickets at an average of 22.05 and an economy rate of 7.65. With the bat, the southpaw all-rounder has scored 153 runs at an average of 21.85 and a strike rate of 137.83. He brings variation with his left-arm spin and also increases the batting depth massively.

Rashid Khan: GT's Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid finished the league stage as the joint-highest wicket-taker. In 14 matches, he picked 24 wickets at an average of 18.25 and an economy rate of 7.82.

Mohammed Shami: The Indian superstar would lead the pace attack in the 'IPL 2023 Best 11' from the league stage of the tournament. Shami is a legit match-winner.

He finished the league stage with 24 wickets - joint-highest - at an average of 17.66 and an economy rate of 7.70.

Mohammed Siraj: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer was electric in the powerplay overs. Overall, he picked 19 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 19.73 and an economy rate of 7.50.

Matheesha Pathirana: A tough choice between Pathirana and Arshdeep Singh had to be made but we went with the Sri Lankan for the growth he has show and the X-factor he brings in the team.

The unorthodox action and his ability to nail the crucial Yorkers has seen the 20-year-old fast bowler make rapid strides this year. Pathirana picked 15 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 19.32 and an economy rate of 7.56 in the league stage.

IPL 2023 Best XI From League Stage of Tournament: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Rinku Singh, Heincrich Klaasen (wk), Nicholas Pooran, Ravindra Jadeja, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Matheesha Pathirana

Note: Gaikwad, Conway, Ashwin, Chahal, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, Cameron Green, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis were in contenrion for a slot in middle-order. MS Dhoni was overlooked as captain to increase the batting depth.
