Dharamshala, May 17: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) feared Prithvi Shaw's return to form with a fifty against Punjab Kings on Wednesday (May 17) as the opener is set to face IPL 2023 playoff aspiring Chennai-based side this weekend in their final league stage match.
Shaw, who had a brilliant domestic season with Mumbai, had looked out of sorts in the IPL 2023, scoring just 47 runs in 6 appearances at a mediocre average of 7.83 and a strike rate of 117.50.

In fact, his highest score this season was 15. But the Indian opener showed sings of return to form with a 36-ball 50 against PBKS at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala.
Shaw shared a 94-run stand with captain David Warner (46 off 31 balls) for the opening wicket as DC finally find joy in the powerplay and first ten overs before the skipper was removed by Sam Curran.
While DC are out of contention from making the playoffs, the Delhi-based side can spoil the party of PBKS and CSK in their remaining two matches. DC host CSK in their final league stage match of the season and the latter need a win to seal a playoff spot.
With playoff spot hanging in the balance as CSK sit on 15 points, fans of the Yellow brigade were worried with Shaw's return to form as some suggested the Indian opener has good record against their bowlers.
Some CSK fans also feared Shaw and Warner stand as the openers finally fire for DC after previous disappointments this season. Here are some reactions on Twitter:
