CSK vs DC: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. CSK are currently placed second in the ten-team IPL 2023 points table. They have won six out of their 11 matches so far.
DC, on the other hand, continue to occupy the last spot after winning four of their ten matches. Chennai won their last match against Mumbai Indians by six wickets, while Delhi defeated RCB by seven wickets.
As the two teams gear up to clash against each other for the first time in the IPL 2023, let's have a look at four players who can score most runs in the match.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: The CSK opener has scored 384 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.66 and a strike rate of 148.26 in 11 matches so far. He is seventh on the list of highest run-scorers this season.
In his last outing against Mumbai Indians, he scored 30 runs off 16 balls. In the last three outings in Chennai, the right-hander has scored 30, 37 and 35 runs. In the five matches against Delhi Capitals (DC) so far, he has scored 134 runs at an average of 26.80 and an economy rate of 117.54.
Ajinkya Rahane: The CSK batter will be up against his former team in the upcoming match. In nine IPL 2023 matches, he has scored 245 runs at an average of 40.83 and a strike rate of 181.48.
Rahane has got an opportunity to bat in only one of his last three outings. He scored 21 off 17 in his last outing against Mumbai. The Delhi batting unit consists of high-profile spinners and some quality pacers and the technique of the experienced campaigner can come handy on the Chennai track.
Rahane has scored 792 runs in 20 matches at an average of 60.92 and a strike rate of 131.56 against Delhi Capitals.
David Warner: The southpaw has led Delhi from the front and is the highest run-scorer for his team at the moment. The 10 matches have seen him score 330 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 120.43. He has hit four fifties so far.
The 36-year-old has played 18 matches against CSK and scored 558 runs at an average of 31 and an economy rate of 130.37. Warner scored 22 off 14 in his last outing against RCB.
Philip Salt: The Delhi Capitals (DC) opener has momentum on his side and eyes will be on him in the match against CSK. He scored match-winning 87 off 45 balls against RCB in his previous outing.
The last three innings have seen him score 87, 0 and 59 runs. Overall, in the five matches the England star has played this season, he has scored 151 runs in five matches at an average of 30.20 and a strike rate of 177.64.
