Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has completed 5000 runs in IPL on Monday (April 3). The CSK captain came into bat in the final over and achieved the record in style.
MS Dhoni came to the bat with the rousing support of the Chepauk crowd as CSK was playing in front of their supporters for the first time in 1426 days. The Chennai skipper came into bat in the final over of the match, and put the entire stadium in delirium.

Dhoni was just 8 runs away from 5000 runs in IPL. And he fantastically completed the record. The CSK skipper came in and hit consecutive sixes off Mark Wood. He smashed 12 runs off his first two balls as the Chennai crowd went in a frenzy mode.
He hit a fierce cut and cleared the third man for a six on his first ball. And the second ball was a humongous six as Dhoni cleared the fence again in an emphatic manner. That second six brought 5000 runs for the former Indian captain.
MS Dhoni has 5004 runs now in IPL. He has scored those runs representing Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants. The batter has a strike rate of 135 and has 24 IPL half-centuries to his name.
He also becomes only the 7th batter in IPL history to score 5000+ runs, and the fifth Indian to do so.
