After incessant rain did not allow the IPL 2023 final to take place on Sunday, the match was transferred to the reserve day on Monday. As expected, Dhoni elected to bowl first.
"We'll bowl first with the rain forecast being around. Pitch has been under cover for a long time, but throughout the tournament the pitch has behaved well over here," Dhoni said at the toss. GT captain Hardik Pandya said he would also have opted to field first.
