IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT: All You Need To Know About Clash Of The Champions

In a clash of champions, four-time winners led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni - Chennai Super Kings and holders led by Hardik Pandya - Gujarat Titans will lock horns in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Final.

CSK will be playing in their 10th summit clash and Dhoni's men will look to secure their fifth title to equal the record for most titles with Mumbai Indians, while GT will be playing in their second successive IPL final and will look to make it back-to-back titles.

CSK last won the title in 2021, whereas GT won the title last season in 2022. This season, the two teams have deservingly reached the final as the most consistent sides that finished on top of the table. GT finished as table-toppers with 20 points and CSK finished second with 17 points.

After the round-robin stage, MS Dhoni's CSK defeated GT by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 to earn a direct entry into the final, while Pandya's men booked their final berth by beating Mumbai Indians by 62 runs in Qualifier 2.

For CSK, multiple players have stepped up and delivered on different occasions with the likes of Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube contributing with the bat, and Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja contributing with the ball.

For GT, Orange Cap leader Shubman Gill has been the star with the bat this season, scoring 851 runs, including 3 hundreds and 4 fifties, in 15 innings. The likes of Wriddhiman Saha, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, David Miller and Sai Sudarshan have also contributed with the bat.

In the bowling department for GT, the trio of Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma occupy the top three positions in the purple cap, bagging 28, 27, and 24 wickets respectively. The likes of Joshua Little and Noor Ahmad also have delivered with the ball.

CSK and GT have already crossed paths twice this season and it's all square as the Titans beat the Super Kings in the curtain-raiser, while the four-time champions returned the favour in the playoff opener.

Now, as the two sides lock horns for the third time this season in a potential high-voltage clash, here is all you need to know about the IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT:

1. The IPL 2023 final will take place on Monday (May 29) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the home of Gujarat Titans. The same venue that hosted the Qualifier 2 in which the Titans rode on Gill hundred to beat MI to book the final berth.

2. The CSK vs GT IPL 2023 Final will start at 7:30 PM IST while the toss will take place at 7:00 PM after the closing ceremony, which is scheduled to start at 6 PM IST.

3. Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans have clashed 4 times so far in the IPL, with Pandya's team winning thrice and Dhoni's men winning only once in the most recent meeting in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium - the home of CSK.

4. CSK and GT have already met at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the IPL 2023 opener in which Hardik Pandya's men came out on top, chasing a target of 179 with four balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

5. As for prize money, the winners of the IPL 2023 final will reportedly take home Rs 20 Crore and the runners-up will pocket Rs 13 Crore. There will be several more awards up for grabs, including the MVP.

6. Shubman Gill is well-placed to take the Orange Cap (Most Runs) title, while his teammates Mohit Sharma, Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami will battle for the Purple Cap (Most Wickets).

7. As for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) or player of the tournament, Rajasthan Royals young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal leads the race, but the likes of Shami, Rashid and Gill are still alive.

8. There will also be an emerging player award for players born after April 1st 1997. Jaiswal could clinch this award as well, but he faces competition from the likes of Rinku Singh, Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana.
