IPL 2023: 'Still the best!' Twitter reacts to MS Dhoni stumping of Shubman Gill

MS Dhoni showed in the IPL 2023 final that he has it in him to be the best wicketkeeper in the business at 41 as the Chennai Super Kings captain played a big hand in the prized scalp of Shubman Gill with his quick stumping behind the wicket. The dismissal left MS Dhoni fans in awe as the star cricketer trended on Twitter.

The dismissal happened in the seventh over of the match when Ravindra Jadeja deceived the in-form batter by sharply turning the ball away while Shubman committed himself to a drive. The ball was swiftly collected by MS Dhoni, who took off the bails in no time.

The CSK skipper made a calm but confident appeal for the dismissal and was convinced that Gill was caught short of his ground as he went on to celebrate with Ravindra Jadeja. Replays soon confirmed that Gill went away from the crease for a second and was enough for Dhoni to take off the bails despite Gill's quick effort to land his backfoot on the crease.

Let's take a look at some of the tweets praising MS Dhoni's effort behind the stumps:

Shubman Gill's wicket came at a crucial juncture as the batter scored a quick 39 runs off just 19 balls before getting stumped. He was dropped on just three runs in the second over by Deepak Chahar at backward square off the bowling of Tushar Deshpande.

Gill, along with Wriddhiman Saha, scored 62 runs in the powerplay with the opener, who scored three centuries in the last four innings prior to the final, went after CSK bowling after getting the life.

Shubman Gill slammed seven fours during his 20-ball stay while Wriddhiman Saha took good measure of CSK pacers with his effective batting as well. Saha was offered a lifeline as well by Chahar, who dropped him of his own bowling at the beginning of the fourth over.
