For the first time in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, the title clash is set to be held on the reserve day as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Gujarat Titans (GT) IPL 2023 Final was postponed due to persistent rains in Ahmedabad.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's CSK was all set to lock horns with Hardik Pandya's GT in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (May 28), but rain and wet conditions forced the match to be postponed to Monday (May 29).

The cut-off time for a full 20-over-a-side game was 9:40 pm, while a curtailed five-overs-a-side game had to start by 12:26 AM. According to the rules, if both of the above were not possible, a 'Super Over' starting at the cut-off time of 12:56 AM could decide the winner.
But none of the above was possible on the originally scheduled date - May 28. So, the final was moved to the reserve day (May 29), in which the fans will hope to see a full T20 game.
Is there any change in rules or start time? Is there a closing ceremony? What happens if it rains and the overs need to be reduced? Let's take a deep dive into that now.
The same rules on the original scheduled date also applies for the reserve day. The final will start at the originally scheduled time of 7:30 PM IST with the toss taking place at 7 PM IST subject to weather and outfield conditions if there is any rain.
Yes, the closing ceremony too will take place at the scheduled time of 6 PM IST subject to the weather and outfield conditions. So, the fans will be entertained by several celebrities.
Indian rapper Divine, music producer Nucleya, Canadian playback singer Jonita Gandhi and British singer Ash King, while Ranveer Singh and Academy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman are also set to take part in the closing ceremony on May 29.
• The reseve day will have the same playing conditions. However, the winner will need to be decided on the reserve day it self as there is only one reserve day and that is on Monday (May 29).
• To determine a result, there should be a five-over per side game or at least a Super Over if rain does play spoilsport. If the above two are not possible, then Gujarat Titans will be crowned champions as they finished table-toppers.
• The above is applicable when there is rain and no possiblity of play before the cutoff the time. The cut-off time for a full 20-over-a-side game is 9:40 PM IST, while a curtailed five-overs-a-side game has to start by 12:26 AM IST.
According to the rules, if both a full game or five-over game are not possible, a 'Super Over' starting at the cut-off time of 12:56 AM IST could decide the winner.
If the match does not start before 9:40 PM IST, then we start losing overs for every eight minutes the game is delayed. Here is a look at the reported scenarios and the number of time outs available for each scenario:
| Scenarios | Start Time (IST) | Overs Per Side | Time Out |
| 1 | 9:45 PM | 19 | 2 Per Innings |
