The 16th season of the TATA IPL is set to take the centre stage from March 31. The fantastic extravaganza will take the country to a whirlwind for the next couple of months as the most elite players of the game lock horns against each other.

The IPL has a reputation for promoting budding talents as we have seen over the years. But in the game of T20, along with the exuberance of youth, the experience of the veterans is a massive factor.

Today we shall take a look at the five veterans of the game who will take part in the IPL 2023. Check out the Five oldest players who will be playing and ready to light up the tournament. (All Ages are at the time of the start of IPL tournament, March 31)

Age: 37 years 204 days

David Wiese was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPl 2022 auction and will be an important player of the squad. His role will be as a backup but the KKR can slot Wiese in some matches if they want.

The Namibia international has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past and has played 15 IPL games. He has picked up 16 wickets and has 127 runs with the bat in his IPL career.

Age: 38 years 45 days

Wriddhiman Saha, the veteran of Indian cricket will be playing for the defending champions Gujarat Titans. He has 144 IPL appearances to his name, scoring 2427 runs in those. The former India wicketkeeper has represented the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings so far in his IPL career and played a memorable knock in the IPL 2014 final during his Punjab days.

Saha will be hoping for a decent outing this season for the Titans, for whom he scored more than 200 runs last season and played a big part in their title triumph.

3. Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Age: 38 years 148 days

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis has vast experience as he has played 116 matches in the IPL. He was signed by RCB last season and took over the captaincy from Virat Kohli.

The Proteas is in terrific form with the bat and even tipped to make a return to the international fold. He will be key for RCB this season.

Over the years, Du Plessis has scored 3403 runs in the IPL at an average of 34 and a decent strike rate of 130.

2. Amit Mishra (Lucknow Super Giants)

2. Amit Mishra (Lucknow Super Giants)

Age: 40 years 131 days

Lucknow Super Giants bowler Amit Mishra will be playing his 16th IPL season and is one of the highest wicket-takers in the IPL with 166 wickets.

The former India bowler has represented the likes of Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past.

Age: 41 years 267 days

MS Dhoni, the stalwart of Indian cricket is the oldest player to play in the IPL this season. The Chennai Super Kings captain has won the title four times with CSK.

The former Indian captain has played 234 IPL matches so far and has 4978 IPL runs. In the last 15 years, Dhoni has represented Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL.
