1. Piyush Chawla (Mumbai Indians)
Piyush Chawla is a stalwart of IPL when it comes to numbers. The skiddy leg-spinner has 157 IPL wickets to his name in 165 matches and has been a part of IPL since its inception in 2008.
But since his departure from Kolkata Knight Riders, Chawla has struggled to cement his place in the new teams. He was part of Chennai Super Kings and now he is with Mumbai Indians since last season. But the 34-year-old has struggled of late in domestic cricket as well. He switched allegiance to Gujarat in domestic cricket but hasn't been that successful in the domestic circuit. The leg-spinner made handful of appearances for MI last season and his opportunities will be limited this season as well. And if things go south this season, Chawla's tale in IPL can be curtailed.

2. Amit Mishra (Lucknow Super Giants)
Amit Mishra is another IPL stalwart who is at the twilight of his career. The 40-year-old is part of the LSG squad but didn't play a single game last season. In the domestic season, Mishra only picked up 10 wickets all season. He is definitely down in the pecking order in the LSG squad, especially with Ravi Bishnoi in the side.
Mishra has picked up 166 IPL wickets over the years but this may well be his last.

3. Wriddhiman Saha (Gujarat Titans)
Wriddhiman Saha can be another name who may bite the dust in IPL after this season. Saha, a terrific wicketkeeper-batter, was axed from the Indian Test squad and also changed his domestic allegiance from Bengal to Tripura last season.
The 38-year-old was part of the Titans squad last season and scored 317 runs in the season. But with age not on his side, any dip in form can have ramifications for his IPL future. Although Saha is an extremely agile player, it is to be seen whether he plays any part beyond this season.

4. Dinesh Karthik (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
This may come as a surprising choice, but the elements of Karthik's name in this list will be explained.
Dinesh Karthik is an evergreen name in Indian cricket. He even scored 330 runs for RCB last season and was picked in India's squad for the T20 World Cup last October. But a dismal outing saw Karthik score only 14 runs in three innings and since then he has been in exile from the field. Karthik just played a solitary domestic match last season and scored 9 runs in that.
And the Indian player has found a new role as a commentator and is a part of the commentary panel in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. With his sharp cricketing knowledge and amazing communication skills, the role with the mic is a lucrative option for Karthik and it is a certainty after he hangs up his boots. But will that be after this season? Time will tel..

5. MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)
Well, nobody in the whole country wants this. But MS Dhoni's ride in the IPL may take a permanent halt this season. The adopted son of Chennai epitomizes success and has been a serial winner in the IPL with CSK.
But IPL 2023 may be the final straw for MS Dhoni's cricketing career. The Indian stalwart has been a legend of the game, and in the IPL, his impact has been monumental for the Chennai-based franchise. Dhoni is currently 41, and there are fears that he may bid adieu to the game this year. Chennai Super Kings fans will pray its false, but this may well be the swansong of MSD in IPL. Well, I hope I am wrong.
