IPL 2023: From Akeal Hosein to Mayank Agarwal - List of Players SRH likely to release

Sunrisers Hyderabad have ended up at the bottom of the IPL table this season. It was a disappointing campaign for them to say the least as the Orange Army managed to win just four matches.

The 2016 IPL Champions had a dismal start with a couple of losses in a row. They did register back-to-back wins in the next two matches, but could only manage two more in their last ten matches. They failed to beat any of the teams who have qualified for playoffs this season.

SRH

They also finished their season with four consecutive losses and could only manage the root of the table. As they prepare for next season, there is a radical change needed in the team. SRH do require players who can take them to the next step, while there will be few names who may have to seek pastures new.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Players SRH may release ahead of IPL 2024

We tried to dissect the squad and potentially find which players SRH may allow to leave ahead of next season. Here is the potential list who may be released by SRH ahead of IPL 2024-

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal's 8.25 crore move to SRH has been an underwhelming one. The batter could only score 270 runs, and 83 of those came in the last match. He failed to provide a solid start for SRH, something which he usually used to do with his previous team Punjab Kings.

SRH invested heavily in the player and with Mayank turning 33 before the next IPL, the franchise may be tempted to release the player. They will have the impulse to keep him for another season, but Agarwal's massive wage may be the telling factor.

Samarth Vyas

Samarth Vyas can be one of the players who will be shown the door. The 27-year-old Saurashtra player didn't get a game this season.

Akeal Hosein

West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein has done well in the other franchise tournaments, but couldn't get going with SRH this season. He was by far a peripheral character and could only manage one match under his belt.

SRH won't mind keeping him as a squad player but they may get a better deal with someone else and would be aiming to free up the budget for other acquisitions.

Adil Rashid

England's veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid looks like another name who may not be part of the SRH team next season. The 35-year-old was roped in by the Sunrisers for INR 2 crore ahead of this season, but could only manage two games under his belt.

With Mayank Markande bowling in excellent fashion, the Englishman didn't get any further opportunities. He could manage 2 wickets this season and it looks almost certain SRH will let him go.
