Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Opponent: Delhi Capitals

Year: 2013

Virat Kohli was the first player in IPL history to get out on 99. At the fag end of the 2013 season, Kohli was the unfortunate one against his hometown club Delhi Capitals and was dismissed for 99 runs. He was captain of RCB at that time and scored 99 runs off 58 balls, but got out of the last ball as he was ran out. But it ended well for Kohli as RCB won the match by 4 runs.

Prithvi Shaw (Delhi Capitals)

Opponent: Kolkata Knight Riders

Year: 2019

Prithvi Shaw demolished the KKR bowlers in this match. Chasing 186 runs, the DC batter scored 99 runs off 55 balls, but was dismissed one run short of his century. DC won the match in super over and Shaw was the player of the match for his magnificent inning.

Chris Gayle (Punjab Kings)

Opponent: Rajasthan Royals

Year: 2020

Chris Gayle's destructive knock against Rajasthan Royals was looking destined to give him another IPL hundred, but the universal boss ran out of luck and was dismissed for 99 runs. Jofra Archer knocked his stumps over and the Punjab side couldn't continue the momentum after Gayle's dismissal. Royals chased down the target as Punjab suffered a defeat.

Ishan Kishan (Mumbai Indians)

Opponent: Royal Challengers Bangalore

Year: 2020

Ishan Kishan almost took his Mumbai Indians home in this IPL 2020 match against RCB. Chasing 201 runs, Kishan played a humongous knock and was caught in the bowling of Isuru Udana in the penultimate delivery of the match. Kishan's 99 had 2 fours and 9 gigantic sixes. Although Kieron Pollard hit a boundary in the last ball to take the game to super over, RCB won the match in the one over show.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)

Opponent: Sunrisers Hyderabad

Year: 2022

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the last player so far to get dismissed on 99 in IPL. It happened in 2022 when the CSK opener took apart the Sunrisers' bowling, but fell one short of his century as Natarajan picked up his wicket. But the batter helped CSK to score beyond 200 runs and his team won the match by 13 runs.
