IPL 2023: Why Gujarat Titans will wear Lavender jersey in the SRH Match - Revealed

Gujarat Titans have announced of wearing a different jersey in their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023.

The Titans, who are the defending champions of IPL, will be taking on SRH on Monday (May 15) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. And in the match, they will be diverting from their traditional Blue jersey to a Lavender colour jersey.

The franchise announced it on Saturday through its official Twitter handle. And GT have cleared that they will be donning the altered colours as a support to raise awareness against Cancer.

"We are ready to don the lavender colours this Monday for a special cause. Gujarat Titans cares about the health and wellness of one and all! Join us as we strive to raise awareness against cancer," Titans tweeted.

Lavender coloured ribbon symbolizes all types of cancers and the Titans franchise wants to incorporate the colour in their jerseys to show solidarity and togetherness towards cancer patients.

"Cancer is a battle fought by millions in India and across the globe, and as a team, we feel responsible towards raising awareness about this deadly disease. Wearing lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families. We hope our actions will inspire others to take preventive measures and support those who are fighting this battle," GT captain Hardik Pandya said.

The Titans are currently sitting at the top of the IPL table. They have 16 points after 12 matches and are aiming a top-two finish in the round-robin league.

They play SRH in the final home game of the season on Monday, then will travel to Bangalore to face RCB in their final league match on next Sunday (May 21).
